Visiting basketball player

In the last lessons before the Easter holidays, class 2 got a visit from a real basketball player in their physical education class. Philipp Weiler, DJK Nieder-Olm player in the basketball second regional league, looked at what the students had learned in the lesson over the past few weeks. But it wasn’t just about looking. At the various practice stations, the professional was on hand to give our students advice and assistance, showed them various tricks and gave tips on how to pass, dribble or throw better. He also demonstrated his own skills as part of the sports lesson in the form of a small demonstration and a short game against the sports teacher. Finally, he answered the many questions, including “How long have you been playing?”, “Are you famous?”, “What was your best and what was your worst game?”, “Who was your strongest opponent?” “For us, it’s great when athletes bring their sport closer to the students. In this way, the children get a completely different approach.” This is how Stufenleiter Fabian Buchholz assessed the campaign. All the children took part with a lot of enthusiasm and found the slightly different physical education classes really great. Philipp Weiler’s visit was a special conclusion to the “Basketball” lesson in the 2nd grade.
